Today, through Ghyaru – Ngawal – Mungji we will go up the path to Manang. The soaring magnificent summits overwhelm our eyes with a panoramic view of Annapurna, Pisang, and several others will give us more astonishing landscapes. The landscape and vegetation of today will alter. The cold, dry weather makes the environment much harder. Our brief trip to the Barge Monastery is the biggest in the Manang district. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.  Overnight at the guest house.

The route passes the river from Manang village and ascends to Tenki Village above Manang, and then continues ascending from Marshyangdi Valley to the northwest, up Jarsang Khola Valley. Then we will follow the valley to the north, pasturelands and the trees, as it grows continuously. We cross the tiny village of Ghunsa, just beneath the path, which is a group of plain mud roofs. The route passes now by the wilderness where horses and yaks graze contentedly. We pass the river on a wooden bridge over an old Mani wall in a beautiful meadow before reaching  Yak Kharka, another tiny village. Smooth but slow climbs are the main to avoid issues of altitude. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We’re going to create our way to the foot of the Throng Phedi pass. This is a tiny but vibrant village that meets the requirements of weary trekkers and climbers. Groups like ours use this as a base camp. Some team members may want to walk today to the High Camp to make it simpler for them next day – although the (company) has reservations about this. Tomorrow is a difficult day planned and we halt at Thorong Phedi to rest soundly (instead of risking a less pleasant evening at the greater altitude at High Camp). Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Looking back, we can see several Annapurna mountains and the lovely Kali Gandaki valley is in front of us.
