DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU, NEPAL
You will be welcomed by one of the officials of our company upon your arrival. He’ll assist your transfer to your Kathmandu lodging. Today there are no scheduled events, so you can rest and get your bearings at the hotel. Further plans and programs about the journey will also be briefed to you by the official.
Day 02 - Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour
Today you’re going to have a lovely Kathmandu Valley sightseeing trip. The trip involves a visit of the city’s four main UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You’ll tour Pashupatinath’s ancient Hindu temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Durbar Square in Kathmandu. You’ll be transferred to your hotel after the trip. Stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 03 - Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2652m/8699ft) Duration: 3 hours
You’re going to fly to Lukla today. For an early flight to Lukla, you will be taken to the airport. The short flight offers excellent mountain peak views. At the brink of Khumbu’s Dudh Koshi River Valley, you will find your journey from Lukla to Phakding, a lovely village. Along the way, you can glimpse the Kusum Kanguru Peak exceptionally beautiful. Overnight stay at the guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 04 - Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283ft) Duration: 6 hours
We follow the Dudh Koshi, ascending through Himalayan pine and cedar forests, to the celebrated village of Namche Bazaar. The village of Namche is a historic trading post where Nepalese and Tibetan traders exchange salt, dried meat and textiles. Besides being a splendid destination to shop for traditional crafts, Namche remains the central trading post in the Khumbu that attracts Himalayan and lowland merchants. You will spend two days at Namche for acclimatization, visit local markets and spend time with your team. On the hike we capture our first glimpses of Everest and neighboring peaks. Day 05 - Acclimatization day - Everest View Hotel – Return, 4-5 hours
This day is allocated to acclimatization in particular. We’re going to hike to Syangboche Airport (3700 m), expected to be the world’s highest airport, then proceed to climb to Everest View Hotel for excellent panoramic sights of the Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache etc. On the way back we explore the Sherpa Culture Museum and Everest Photo Gallery. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 06 - Namche to Dole (4200m/13776ft) Duration: 5- 6 hours
The simple routes in walking up to Kyangjuma & hike steeply out of the valley through woods of rhododendron, giving way to fragrant juniper stands and large conifers as the altitude rises. This hike is particularly lovely when the rhododendrons bloom in spring. The paths cross many Kharkas, summer settlements used to graze in these high grasslands when Sherpas take herds of yaks. The route goes through Tongba settlements (3950 m) and Gyele settlements (3960 m) to Dole where there are few lodges. Khumbila and Tawache’s views (6542 m) are amazing all day long. Day 07 - Dole to Machhermo (4400m/14432ft) Duration: 4-5 hours
Trail climbs at (4220 m) to Lambara and at (4360 m) to Luza. In most locations, the tails are high as they climb through brush junipers. Wherever there is a flat spot and the smallest trace of water, there are Kharkas. The trails continue climbing along the valley side, high above the river, crossing at sandy trails to Machhermo (4410 m). In 1974, Yeti killed three yaks here in Machhermo and tied a Sherpa female. This is the most recorded incidence of yeti ever. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 08 - Machhermo to Gokyo Lake (4700m/15416ft) Duration: 4 -5 hours
For an excellent view down the valley to Kantega and up to Cho-Oyu (8201 m), we climb a ridge. The valley extends beyond the ridge as the trail passes through Pangka at (4390 m), then goes to the bank of the river before climbing up to the Ngozumpa Glacier’s terminal moraine. It is a steep climb up the moraine, switching back along the stream to the first small lake at (4650 m), where there is a group of green Brainy ducks. Day 09 - Hike to Gokyo RI (5360m/17880ft) Duration: 4-5 hours
For a panoramic view of the Mahalangur Himalayan range, you will wake up early and climb up to the Gokyo-RI. It takes about 2 hours to climb to the top of the peak with a panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, the Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and the Tawache. It also offers a fantastic view of the Ngozumpa glacier, Nepal’s largest glacier. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 10 - Trek to Lunden (4300m/14104 ft) via crossing Renjo la pass (5340m/17843 ft) Duration: 6-7 hours
The Renjo La Pass crossing will be thrilling and challenging as we climb into the distant northern valley where access is restricted and the landscape gradually resembles that of the Tibetan Valleys beyond the border. There’s a possibility that we’ll encounter Tibetan traders coming down from the Nangpa La pass that runs from Tibet through the Himalayas with their woolly yak caravans loaded with goods. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 11 - Trek to Thame (3800m/13464ft), Duration: 4-5 Hours
We’ll be trekking down to Thame for more incredible snow peaks after having breakfast. On the way for photographs of a rare lifestyle, we may meet Tibetan trader encampments. Approximately 150 meters above Thame is a Thame Monastery, a scenic monastery situated among the many monks and lay people’s residences. It stands on the side of a hill that overlooks the valley. This is the venue for every year’s Mani Rimdu Mani Rimdu festival, organized around mid-May. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 12 - Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283ft) Duration: 4-5 Hours
After going to Namche bazaar, we will proceed our hike, crossing the plain and going to the first resting place Thamo. The walk back is lovely. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 13 - Trek back to Lukla (2800m/9184ft) Duration: 6-7 Hours
The trek continues along the Dudh Kosi River to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla, where you will catch your return flight to Kathmandu. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 14 - Fly back to Kathmandu
Bidding farewell to the mountains with a 30-minutes amazing scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arriving back at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 15 - Free Day in Kathmandu
This day is a Kathmandu reserve day. You can spend the day relaxing in the city or shopping according to your preferences. Overnight stay at Kathmandu. Breakfast included.
Day 16 - Tour Ends/Farewell
You will be transported to the airport three hours before your scheduled flight by one of the officials from our company, from where you will leave with lovely travel experiences. Including breakfast.
