About Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek brings you to Langtang’s lovely valley, embedded in many mountain lakes with azure shades. The background of snow-covered mountains, the pristine and serene lakes looks divine. It is a joyful trek that includes the Langtang National Park and a number of other ethnic settlement villages. Langtang National Park is a natural splendor park. The park is home to a great number of distinctive flora and fauna. Walking through the lush rhododendron and bamboo woods of the park could be a chance to encounter the rare – red panda and many other animals in the national park.

On the way to Langtang you can also visit the Kyanjin Gompa, cheese factory and the special attraction of the Langtang – the Sherpa village. You can see the practice of Buddhist religion in the Gompa (monastery). You will also get to know more about the lifestyle and cultures of the people in the village.

It is also believed that the trek to Gosaikunda Lake is not just an adventure but also there is a religious belief that if you wash yourself from the water of the lake, all your sins will be forgiven. Gosaikunda Lake is also a famous pilgrimage for both the followers of Hinduism and Buddhism, hence every year on the full moon night in August, there is a big religious ritual being held where many Buddhist and Hindus from all around the world visit the lake.

As we move towards Helambu which is also known as a study centre for Tibetan Buddhism we can find villages where Sherpa and Tamang people resides and get to experience their culture, traditions and lifestyle. People in those villages weaves baskets, carve windows and make other handicrafts products to support their living.

Our representative will welcome you at the airport and then take you to your hotel in Kathmandu where he/she will also brief you about the trip. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02 - Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1,462m/4,795ft) Duration: 7 hours

Our drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi will approximately take 7 hours by bus..
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi which takes about seven by bus. To the north you move from Kathmandu to the picturesque foothills of Dhunche and to the ridgeline views of Syabru Besi. You can see Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills while passing the highway along the river banks of Trisuli River. You feel as if you are going to deep land while passing through Dhunche. You realize at the same moment that the highway is still being built. Guesthouse stay overnight, breakfast included, lunch and dinner included.

Day 03 - Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2,500m/8,200ft) Duration: 5 hour

The first segment of the path today passes through the Langtang Khola and through Bhote Koshi. The road gradually ascends to Bamboo and passes through the  Landslide zone. Then your trek goes to the Ramche (2400 m) via Bamboo (1960 m) on the shores of  Langtang Khola. If you like, you can have lunch here. And your journey to the Lama Hotel is at the end of the road. If you were fortunate, on the way you would be able to see red pandas, bears and monkeys. Guesthouse overnight, breakfast included, lunch and dinner.

Day 04 - Lama Hotel to Mundu (3,550m/11,645ft) Duration: 5-6 hours

The trek follows Gumanechok,  Ghoda Tabela which means Horse Stable. After that, our path to Mundu further Langtang is mildly gradual. The small village of Mundu is approximately 30 minutes away from Langtang village. Overnight stay at tea house, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 05 - Mundu to Kyanjing RI (4,773m/15,655ft) and back to Kyanjing Gompa (3,798m/12,495ft) Duration: 7-8 hours

Crossing Laja Khola, then a moraine rises towards a point of view, where the Kyanjing Gompa and the spectacular icefall from Langtang Lirung are seen. Hiking to Kyanjing RI (4773 m) and trek back to Kyanjing Gompa after Kyanjing Gompa. Including breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Guesthouse for overnight.

Day 06 - Kyangjuma Gompa Exploration and climb Chorkari RI (5,050m/16,564ft) Duration: 7 hours

Today is a relaxing day to explore the neighborhood. You can walk up the moraine to see the amazing faces of the ice and climb Chorkari RI (550 m) at the highest scale of the tour, right behind the village, for a stunning panorama of the Langtang peak. The monastery and the cheese factory can be seen. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 07 - Kyanjin Gompa- Lama Hotel (2,500m/8,200ft) Duration: 5-6 hours

We return to Lama Hotel all the way down. We’ll see wonderful views of the mountains, which you missed. Take longer and you should walk very slowly. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 08 - Lama Hotel - Thulo Syabru (2,235m/ 7,330ft) Duration: 5-6 hours

Cross the river and climb up to Thulo Syabru, first decent path up the river. The view of Langtang Himal and more is captivating. You will cross pine and Junipers forests along the way. Guesthouse overnight, breakfast included, lunch and dinner.

Day 09 - Thulo Syabru- Shin Gompa (3,330m/10,925ft) Duration: 3-5 hours

The wide trial climbing to Dimsa village remains less steeply and leads into Shin Gumba through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak woodlands. On the journey to the Langtang Himal Valley you will see wonderful scenery. Another famous cheese spot is Shin Gompa. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 10 - Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,300m/14,104ft) Duration: 5-6 hours

The first segment of the trail progresses and we climb continuously to Laurebinayak, which provides you an exotic sensation on the top of Laurebinayak. The entire way to Gosaikunda is a steep ascent. You follow a rough route overlooking an excellent panoramic view of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Tibet and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, behind and north across the valley, Langtang Lirung, even the Annapurna range is visible. You pass the cottages at Laurebinayak’s elevated pasture, cross the little ridge and view the sacred Gosaikunda lake. The three most important ones are Saraswatikunda, Bhairab Kunda and Gosainkunda, are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin. According to the legend, Gosainkunda had been created by Shiva when, after swallowing up a poison, he pierced a glacier and his trident in order to receive water to calm his thirst. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 11 - Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3,430m/11,250ft) via Laurebinayak Yak pass (4,610m/15,120ft) Duration: 6 hours

The path goes from the village of Gosaikunda to the Laurebinayak lake (4610 m), the highest point of this walk, through rough terrain, along four small lakes. Take a look back at the amazing views of Manaslu and the Ganesh-Himal hills and the well-known Langtang Lirung. You go down to the camp near Ghopte, steeply. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 12 - Ghopte to Malemchigaon (2,560m/8,399ft) Duration: 6-7 hours

You go down through a forested area and climb a dry river bed to a Kharka encircled by the forest of rhododendrons. You ascend through the woods to Tharepati village. You have a wonderful view of the Jugal region by climbing the ridge over the village. Cross the village and enter a forest, again descend to the river Melamchi and climb to the Malemchigaon again. Guest house overnight, breakfast included, lunch and dinner.

Day 13 - Malemchigaon to Tarkeghyang (2,590m/8,495ft) Duration: 5-7 hours

When you go to a cultural site you can walk to Tarkeghyang, and enjoy Sherpa culture with the village and monasteries the day you visit Helambu Region. The stone houses are small and separated by narrow alleys. Guesthouse overnight, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 14 - Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2,610m/8,560ft) Duration: 3-4 hours

You will pass through small forest, overlooking the lovely Helambu village. The trail runs through the broad valley from Parachin to Gangyul, a charming village of Sharpa. Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism is practiced in this village, like Bhutan’s national religion. Guest house overnight, breakfast included, lunch & dinner.

Day 15 - Shermathang- Melamchi - Pul Bazaar –Kathmandu: 3-4 hour’s hike and 2 hours’ drive

Short walk down to Melamchi Pul Bazaar with many Sherpa village  and take the transportation to Kathmandu .  Hotel accommodation, including breakfast and dinner.

Day 16 - Farewell

Our representative will drop up at the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight.
