About Lower Mustang Trek

Relish your trip on the background of two mountain  ranges at the hidden treasure of Nepal, Dhaulagiri range and Annapurna. Trekking in the region of Mustang is an incredible experience as you travel the deepest gorge of the world, i.e. Kali Gandaki gorge to the dry and untouched land and admire the intriguing view of the mountains such as Panorama of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri Mountains, Himchuli Mountains, Mt Nilgiri Mountains, Mt. Tukuche Mountains, and many more. The Mustang Trek on the southern edges of the Tibetan plateau has a landscape comparable to the Tibetan plateau – wild, dry and barren. The Lower Mustang Trek is not only about its distinctive wild landscape and deepest gorge, but also about the dynamic and vibrant villages, sunrise and sunset views, distinctive cultural activities, biological diversity and the renowned religious center of the Hindus and Buddhists, i.e. Muktinath.

The first intriguing experience is the amazing view from Poon Hill of the sunrise. Before the snow covered mountain panorama, it’s a wonderful experience to see the magnificent golden rays raised. In the natural warm water spring in Tatopani bathing can serve as a relief for the fatigue from your journey throughout the day. Likewise, you will pass through some wonderful villages such as Ghasa, Marpha, Kagbeni, Jomsom, and many more as you follow you along the path. The cultural meeting and interaction with local individuals is a fantastic way to understand people, lifestyles, culture and tradition. The small streets of Marpha are exceptional, with their flat roofs and white washed houses. Also common is the village for apples cultivated locally in the region. Similarly, Jomsom is a bustling region with numerous hotels, stores, banks and other public offices.

Muktinath is the main highlight of this trek. Muktinath is a famous religious site which annually attracts a large number of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims worldwide. A temple of Lord Vishnu, accompanied by a Gompa, stands in this location. The eternal fire that burns with natural gas to this place is a surprise for everyone. Get prepared for the beauty of the Himalayas while walking along the wild landscape of the distinctive Buddhist culture affected by the Tibetans.
